2Big2Send gives users a way to send large files that other, similar applications can’t handle. The user can quickly upload and send off a file or multiple files. The application protects the user’s data with security features. Users can also add their own corporate branding to their 2Big2Send account. The maximum files size and storage limit varies based on the account the user purchases, however the file maximum begins at 2 GB and goes up to 5 GBs. Users can also send files to multiple recipients and password protect sensitive files. Tracking features are included that notify the user when their files are downloaded by the recipient. 2Big2Send is a file solution intended to assist users and businesses and provide a way to share files without an FTP server.
2Big2Send was founded in March of 2007 by Jamie McConnell. The application was intended to give internet users another way to share files to one or more people. The company is based in Oxford, Great Britain and also includes Lead Developer Adam Eastbury. The overall size of the company remains small, with fewer than five individuals, however the popularity of 2Big2Send continues to grow.
2Big2Send doesn’t vary much from other file sharing and storage applications. Users can create passwords for files, add one or more recipients and send multiple files whenever they like. The application sets a higher sending maximum and storage limit than other applications offer, however it in general serves the same purpose.
The 2Big2Send website uses a blue and black color scheme that gives the site a pleasant, calm appearance. The black header that spans the entire top of the page contains the round arrow logo beside the site name. Three white links are found to the right of the logo to help the user get started. A file sending form is presented right on the homepage for users who would like to jump right in and test out the application.
New users can register for a 2Big2Send account by clicking the white “Sign Up” link near the center of the black header. Doing so takes the user to the membership plan page. The user must click the orange button that corresponds with their desired membership plan. The next page asks the user for a name, valid email address and password. The user must choose to pay on a monthly or yearly basis and must select their payment method. Payment method options include Paypal or a Visa, MasterCard or American Express card.
2Big2Send offers users three membership plans to choose from. The first is a Basic plan which costs just under £4 per month and includes up to 5 GBs of online storage, the ability to send multiple files or enter multiple file recipients at a time and a maximum file size of up to 2 GB per file. The Premium membership costs £10 per month and upgrades to include corporate branding features, file tracking features, password protection for files, up to 15 GBs of online storage space and a file maximum of up to 5 GBs. The Ultimate membership costs around £35 per month and includes up to 80 GBs of online storage space.
2Big2Send is a helpful solution for small businesses or individuals who share many files regularly. The application include primarily basic file sharing features along with a handful of extra bells and whistles, such as the corporate branding for Premium and Ultimate accounts.
